Dental Practitioner Advice and Support Scheme

DPASS
DPASS is a support scheme for dental practitioners who may be struggling with aspects of their practice, or have been identified as needing help to meet expected professional standards. It provides advice, mentoring, and practical support.
It is not disciplinary but rather an early‑support, advisory scheme intended to prevent issues from escalating.
East Lancashire LDC can provide assistance and support from experienced peers to help you navigate professional storms; guiding you through governing body action and supporting with the steps to satisfy remediation requirements.

NHS England describes DPASS as a scheme “instigated to offer support to practitioners who were identified… as having fallen behind where they need to be in terms of their professional requirements.” NHS England — North West » Dental – FAQs
DPASS typically provides:
- Mentoring and professional guidance
- Support with clinical governance or record‑keeping
- Help understanding NHS expectations
- Advice on improving practice systems
- A supportive, non‑punitive environment
It is designed to help practitioners get back on track rather than punish them
